SoWe Food & Wine Festival

A couple of months ago, I was asked to design two separate spaces for the upcoming Southern Westchester Food & Wine Festival. To give a little background information, this event is an annual festival showcasing culinary and wine offerings of Southern Westchester County.

The first event is happening tomorrow, Friday September 20th 2013,  at the Pepe Infiniti showroom in White Plains, NY. They are the Presenting Sponsor for the event and have donated their showroom for the auction event. Proceeds will go to organizations such as WhyHunger and Food Bank of Westchester.

West Elm was also a big contributor for this event. They generously provided the furniture and accessories for both the showroom and festival event and donated items to be auctioned off as well. Thank you West Elm!

For the showroom event, the overall look is clean, simple design with an elegant touch. The color palette is based on the existing furniture at the showroom, which consists of bronzes and cream colors. Below is an example of the look:

The second design is for the tented event hosted on Sunday, September 22nd, located in the Scarsdale Village. The look for this event is more casual, relating to nature with a color palette of greens and blues.

Here is an excerpt from the Scarsdale Patch website:

“There will be cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, live music by The B Street Band, a kid’s zone with healthy snacks and activities, product displays, book signings and more. While admission to the festival is free, attendees sampling food and wine must purchase tickets, either online at www.sowefwf.com or on the day of the event. The streets in Scarsdale Village will be fully tented, curb to curb, so all activities will go on as scheduled, rain or shine.”

For the outdoor event I was able to be a little more creative, making a an entry runner for the tented event. Before entering the tent, there is a selection of cars from Infiniti, the presenting sponsor. I suggested the idea of having a runner with the Infiniti logo, not knowing how I would make it. Astroturf was used for the runner, which is same flooring inside the tented event. A couple of practice tries gave me the confidence to go for it. I’m happy to say it turned out great.
